About the author

Rowland Hughes is a Principal Lecturer in English and American Literature at the University of Hertfordshire. Here he is a module leader for Level 2 – American Literature to 1900, Level 3 – Transatlantic Currents: Literary exchange between Europe and North America and Level 3 – Native American Literature. He has written several journal articles and book chapters on American Literature as well as encylopedia entries on literary critics and criticism and American travel writing.
