The right of self-determination showed many changes through-out the history. The twentieth century version entailed the dismemberment of states in favor of smaller units. This appeared after the collapse of the Soviet union (The end of the bi-pollar system). And the start of the American hegomany (Uni-lateral system) . This changes could give appearance to new units in Africa as in case of southern Sudan .
