The efficacy of curcumin and resveratrol were tested for the potential anticataract activity in rats. Galactose enriched diet induced cataract in albino rat through elevated generation of reactive oxygen species in eye lens. In addition, there is a concurrent imbalance in the levels of antioxidant. Oral co-administration or post galactose administration with curcumin or resveratrol resulted in protection or reversal of cataract by curcumin or resveratrol respectively.
