Type 2 diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in many developed and developing countries. Diabetes will be one of the major threats to human health in the 21st century. The present volume is focused on the prevalence of diabetes and associated risk factors among the Indian populations. This book present and discusses the new diagnostic criteria and classification of diabetes. A brief review on the prevalence and its association with other risk factors are discussed with world and Indian populations. India being multi-ethnic and multi-lingual, as castes, sub castes and tribes is separated by different degrees of cultural variations and characterized by the rule of endogamy. Dr. P. Chandrasekhar Rao, MSc., M.Phil., Ph.D, is presently working as a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Anthropology, S V University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. He got Young Scientist Fellowship for the year 2006 and also he got JRF and SRF from UGC. He published research articles in various National and International journals.
