About the author

Robert C. Feenstra is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Davis, USA. He also directs the International Trade and Investment program at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is a former editor of the 'Journal of International Economics' and an associate editor of the American Economic Review). In September 2006 he received the Bernhard-Harms Prize from the Kiel Institute of World Economics in Germany.

Alan M. Taylor is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Davis, USA. He is also a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts and a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London. He serves on the editorial boards of the 'Journal of Economic Literature' and the 'Journal of International Money and Finance'.
