Informationen zum Autor Jacques Franchi has been Professor of Mathematics at the University of Strasbourg (France) since 2000. He completed his PhD thesis in 1987, and the "Habilitation a` diriger des recherches " in 1996, both at the University Paris 6. He has written a series of articles, in probability theory and related areas, including general relativity.Yves Le Jan is a professor at the University Paris-Sud of Orsay (France) and a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He gave an invited talk on Probability at the ICM held in 1996 in Madrid and the Doob lecture in the 8th World Congress in Probability and Statistics held in 2012 in Istanbul. Klappentext A simple introduction to several important fields of modern mathematics. The exposition is based on an interplay between hyperbolic geometry, stochastic calculus, special relativity and chaotic dynamics. It is suitable for anyone with some solid background in linear algebra, calculus, and probability theory. Zusammenfassung A simple introduction to several important fields of modern mathematics.
