Informationen zum Autor John Eddleston was born in Lancashire in 1952. After spells in banking, sales and general commerce he became a mature student and took a B.Ed degree in mathematics and history. He then taught for some seven years, first moving to Peterborough and later to the south coast. He became a full-time writer around 1997 and this is the ninth true crime work he has had published. He is a life-long opponent of the death penalty. John now lives with his partner, Yvonne, in Sussex and has ambitions to produce a major series of works exploring individual cases at book length. He also seeks to move into fiction. Amongst his many other interests he lists travel, computing, pub quizzed and red wine. Zusammenfassung The Encyclopaedia of Executions is the definitive work on this subject. John Eddleston has spent years researching and producing detailed, authoritative and gripping accounts of all the executions that took place in Britain during the 20th century. From the grisly, to the curious, to the down-right shocking, all aspects of each execution are covers in amazing detail. The hard facts of each case cover the murderers, the victims, the trials, and, of course, the executions themselves. The facts are brought to life by the vivid descriptions of the 'characters', the circumstances, the motives and sometimes the remorse. A fascinating document, with all the pace of a good crime novel, this is a must-read for true crime fans, criminologists and those with a passion for historical fact.
