Zusatztext Akkerman's editing standards are lofty indeed. Armed with digital surrogates, Akkerman's research team checked each letter no less than three times, and at least once by the editor against the original manuscript. Each is quoted in its original language and then, if necessary, translated in English. The edition also prints the letters to Elizabeth, which allow us to follow the epistolary exchanges ... While the texts are impressive, the annotations are a marvel in their own right. Akkerman's careful identification of all persons and events represents a running commentary on the history of several dozen states. Informationen zum Autor Dr. Nadine Akkerman studied English Language and Literature at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam from 1996 to 2001. She has published articles on the Queen of Bohemia's dramatic performances in The Hague in The Ben Jonson Journal and on early modern letters in Early Modern Literary Studies. In November 2008 she was awarded her PhD 'cum laude' (with distinction) for a dissertation entitled, "The Letters of A Stuart Princess: The Correspondence of Elizabeth Stuart, Electress Palatine of the Rhine, and Queen of Bohemia". Klappentext The Correspondence of Elizabeth Stuart is the first complete edition of Elizabeth Stuart's letters ever published. Volume II covers the years between 1632 and 1642: Elizabeth's life as a widow controlling the regency during her eldest son's minority and imprisonment.
