About the author
William Boericke (1849-1929) William Böricke wurde am 26. Nov. 1849 in Österreich geboren. Er studierte ein Jahr an der medizinischen Universität Wien, bevor er in die Vereinigten Staaten emigrierte. Er graduierte am Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia 1880. Bald danach zog er nach San Francisco um, wo er als Homöopath für mehr als fünfzig Jahre arbeitete. Er war Mitbegründer des Pacific Homoeopathic Medical College in San Francisco und des Hahnemann Hospital 1881. Dieses wurde in die Universität von Kalifornien integriert, in der er der erste Professor für homöpathische Materia Medica und Therapie wurde. Hier arbeitete er 30 Jahre lang. 1901 veröffentlichte er seine homöopathische Materia Medica. Es wurden neun Ausgaben gedruckt. Sein Bruder Oscar fügte 1906 ein Repertorium hinzu. Keine andere kurzgefasste Arzneimittellehre ist bei uns so verbreitet wie 'der Boericke'.
