Informationen zum Autor Ramiro Bujeiro has become a frequent and popular contributor to Osprey since illustrating Warrior 23: US Marine in Vietnam 1965–73 (1998). He is an experienced commercial artist who lives and works in his native city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. His professional background includes commissions as a figure illustrator and strip cartoonist for clients all over Europe, the Americas and in Great Britain. His main interests are the political and military history of Europe in the first half of the 20th century. Klappentext The skill and care of the women of the Allied military nursing services was remembered gratefully by hundreds of thousands of wounded servicemen of World War II (1939-1945). The small peacetime services increased rapidly by enrolling reservists and volunteers; the great majority of the nurses who cared for Allied casualties were 'civilians in uniform', who worked tirelessly under difficult conditions and - in tented hospitals close to the front lines - in real danger; many nurses paid for their devotion with their lives. This first-ever fully illustrated study of the US, British, Commonwealth, and other nursing organisations includes many unpublished photographs and 24 meticulously illustrated colour figures. Zusammenfassung During World War II both the US and Great Britain developed large and sophisticated nursing services to deal with the casualities of the war. This volume contains a detailed study that looks at the uniforms and organization of these services and their work at home and overseas.
