Informationen zum Autor Jane Austen (1775-1817) was an English author born in Hampshire, England. She's best-known for her novels in which she critiques eighteenth-century society and displays her characteristically sharp wit. Austen's most famous works include 'Sense and Sensibility' (1811), 'Pride and Prejudice' 1813, and 'Emma' (1816). Although her works have now been translated and printed in editions across the globe, Austen was relatively unknown during her lifetime, publishing her novels anonymously. Zusammenfassung Many of Jane Austen's letters were published for the first time in this collection by her great-nephew Lord Brabourne. The letters are set within a context that explains their significance. This first volume begins with a biographical essay and includes letters from 1796! when Austen was twenty! to 1807. Inhaltsverzeichnis Introduction; 1. Godmersham and Goodnestone; 2. Austens and Knights; 3. Steventon and Chawton, Winchester; 4. The novels; 5. The novels; Letters.
