After moving to Portland, Oregon, the Bakers became avid amateur orchid enthusiasts and frequent contributors to Orchids, Orchid Advocate, and Orchid Hunter, among other journals. Margaret Baker was a frequent contributor to the American Orchid Society Bulletin.
