An investigation was undertaken to find out the migration trend of the community through river bank erosion by the Brahmaputra river at Fulchari upazilla in Gaibandha District, Bangladesh since 1988 to 2008. Data were collected by interviewing 100 randomly selected families among the 436 displaced families in the study area during the period of August, 2009 to October, 2009. Secondary data were also collected to explain the riverbank erosion status. This study emphasized the importance and need for looking the phenomena of river bank erosion and its impact on population displacement and migration in the study area. This would give a much clear understanding of the content of peoples perception about and adjustment with this land degradation due to river bank erosion, and thus lead to a better basis for insight into the whole situation and its immediate impact on the human habitat in Bangladesh.
