This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, PAAMS 2014, held in Salamanca, Spain, in June 2014. The 12 revised full papers and 14 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 52 submissions and are presented together with 19 demonstrations. The papers report on the application and validation of agent-based models, methods, and technologies in a number of key application areas, including: agent-oriented software engineering, conversations, motion coordination and unmanned aerial vehicles, web and service systems, robotics exploration, smart cities and infrastructures, and social systems.

About the author
Franco Zambonelli is professor in Computer Science at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia since 2001. He obtained the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering in 1992, and the PhD in Computer Science in 1997, both from the University of Bologna. His current research interests include: distributed and pervasive computing, agent-oriented software engineering, self-organization in distributed systems engineering. In these areas, he has published over 120 papers in international fora, co-edited 7 books, received several best paper awards, and has been invited speaker and tutorialist in several international conferences and workshops. He is a member of IEEE, ACM, AIIA, and TABOO.
