About the author










Vivienne is a freelance writer and photographer specialising in the outdoors. A journalist since 1990, she abandoned the constraints of a desk job on regional newspapers in 2001 to go travelling in Asia and New Zealand.On her return, she decided to focus on the activities she loves the most - hill-walking, writing, travelling and photography. Needless to say, she's never looked back! Based near the Lake District, she has written several books on the national park and on Cumbria, mostly walking guides, and is well-known in north Cumbria for her hugely popular walking columns, which appear in several local newspapers. She also writes outdoor features for magazines and does a lot of work for conservation and tourism bodies, researching and writing walks leaflets and interpretation panels.
