About the author

Tony Buttler worked for 20 years as a metallurgist in the aircraft and defence industry, specializing in titanium and aluminium alloys. After being made redundant, he took a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science and became a full-time aviation historian specializing in the design and development of military aircraft since the mid-1930s (i.e. since the end of the biplane era). To date, Buttler has written 18 books, 14 titles in the Warpaint series, and around 100 magazine articles. Buttler has the professional qualification AMRAeS (with the Royal Aeronautical Society) and lecture to branches of the Society.
