In the search to clarify the past-and thus transform the present, these poems turn over the shards of memory like the colored glass in a kaleidoscope, looking for an angle that will light up the great mystery of how we become and continue becoming who we are.

About the author

Keith Brady was born in Melbourne, Australia. Eldest of three, his family moved to Hong Kong when he was five where he began school. At the tender age of nine, he was sent to boarding school in Sydney, Australia, only spending time with his family in Hong Kong during school holidays. Keith is fortunate to have a love of science, and an affinity for computer programming, the latter leading to a cadetship in a programming role in Sydney upon completing school. He also discovered playing computer games when they were DOS-based, and the industry was in its infancy. Keith enjoys the challenge required to play games well. To this day, he thinks of designing systems and writing programs as an art form rather than work.Keith discovered a passion for writing short anecdotes about his football team's games. He expanded into poetry, writing about people in his walking soccer team that incorporated humour and insights into the lives of those involved, and read over a coffee or beer post-match. He has not published the aforementioned beyond his team. The enjoyment he got from penning poetry led him to write a novella, 'Walkers in Space'. It was a story that had Keith and his teammates on a Sci-Fi adventure. These writing experiences sparked the desire to write stories for his grandchildren, and short stories for competitions.'First Step' is Keith's book debut, and his first publication in the StepWorld series. The series has provided Keith with the platform to bring together his love of science and space exploration, and his concerns about planetary health and global power relationships.
