About the author

Frank Wedekind war ein Neuerer der Lyrik, vielleicht ohne es zu wissen. An Heine geschult, verkörpert er die Kälte des 20. Jahrhunderts und wurde zum Vorbild für kommende Generationen, unter ihnen Bertolt Brecht. Gitarrengriffe hat er sich als Junge selbst beigebracht, Notenlesen nie richtig gelernt. Mit der Kühnheit des Dilettanten erfand er Melodien zu seinen Versen und wurde zum ersten deutschen Liedermacher. Seine Spottgedichte "Meerfahrt" und "König David" zur Palästinareise Wilhelms II. im Jahre 1898 brachten Anklage und Festungshaft.
