The nitrate content in drinking water is rising at an alarming rate in several parts of the world, due to the lack of proper sewage treatment and mostly due to excess fertilizer applications. This book addresses the three main types of expertise needed to select proper control alternatives for nitrate contamination: - hydrological engineering, to estimate nitrate exposure; - biomedical engineering, to assess the health conse- quences of nitrate exposure; - environmental engineering, to find treatment strategies.
