Petite Bibliothèque Payot

Winnicott est devenu mondialement célèbre avec la notion d'objet transitionnel. Cet objet, que l'on associe d'habitude au doudou ou à l'ours en peluche, est la première possession du bébé, qui lui donne un nom, puis s'arroge des droits sur lui : il le câline, l'aime, le mutile. L'objet survivra à cet amour et à cette haine. Mais, peu à peu, il sera désinvesti, puis « relégué dans les limbes ». Il ne sera pas oublié, il perdra juste sa signification. L'enfant n'aura donc pas à en faire le deuil. Mais grâce à lui, il aura pu vivre une expérience affective fondatrice.
