Peter Wohlleben studierte an der Fachhochschule Rottenburg Forstwirtschaft. Nach 23 Jahren kündigte er seine Beamtenstelle bei der Landesforstverwaltung Rheinland-Pfalz, um seine Vorstellungen von einer ökologischen Waldbewirtschaftung in der Gemeinde Hümmel umsetzen zu können.
