The 2010 FIFA World Cup TM - A chance for the local accommodation and lodging industry in Cape Town. The FIFA World Cup TM is the biggest sporting event worldwide. Every four years, thousands of sports tourists visit the host country and go to the stadiums to watch the football games. In 2010 this football spectacle will be hosted in South Africa. Hosting the World Cup boasts a number of challenges, impacts,opportunities and chances for the host. For the first time in World Cup history, FIFA will be contracting non-hotel accommodation such as B&B accommodations, lodges, self catering apartments and guesthouses. This study will examine how Cape Town's accommodation and lodging industry is preparing for the event and what chances it can bring to this growing industry.
