Informationen zum Autor Iver B. Neumann is the Montague Burton Professor at London School of Economics, but did the editing work on this volume while he was still Research Director at NUPI (Norwegian Institute of International Affairs). Iver is interested in how the species is organised, and in the self- and other-understanding of groups understood as a constitutive element of same. This interest was culled by studying the Soviet Union and 'the West' in the 1980s, which led him to study the everyday practices of diplomacy and of governmentality. He has recently written two books on diplomacy. Halvard Leira is a Senior Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and Associate Professor (II) at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Oslo, and Master's degrees from the University of Oslo (Political Science) and the LSE (International Relations). His research interests include foreign policy, international relations theory, international history, the history of international thought and diplomacy. He was the 2011-13 Program Chair of the Diplomatic Studies Section of the International Studies Association Klappentext Following on from where 2004's widely acclaimed three-volume SAGE collection, Diplomacy (ed. Jonsson & Langhorne) left off, this new four-volume major work takes a new look at a subject which has matured and developed significantly over the past decade. With the rise of India, China and Brazil as well as of the global south, diplomacy's history looks different. Significant shifts have prompted scholars in the field to reconsider the historical sequences that are relevant to an understanding of what diplomacy is today, and where it may be heading. Increased mediazation of global politics and diplomacy has prompted an exponential growth in literature on public diplomacy. This collection has been carefully structured so that each volume gives the reader an overview of the literature on a new area of development in the study of diplomacy: Volume One: Diplomatic institutions Volume Two: Diplomacy in a Multicultural World Volume Three: The Pluralisation of Diplomacy - Changing Actors, Developing Arenas and New Issues Volume Four: Public Diplomacy Zusammenfassung Following on from where 2004's widely acclaimed three-volume SAGE collection, Diplomacy (ed.
