Informationen zum Autor David Kirby is the author of numerous books, including The House on Boulevard St.: New and Selected Poems, a finalist for the 2007 National Book Award. The Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor of English at Florida State University, he is a recipient of National Endowment of the Arts and Guggenheim fellowships, among other honors. He and his wife, poet Barbara Hamby, live in Tallahassee. Klappentext Kirby's latest work is at once the caravan, the carnival, and the crowd merging together to form a wondrous collection. Much like a traveling circus, Kirby's poems are equally defined by their transient nature and by their destination. In "Talking about Movies with Jesus" earnest conversations with cultural icons from Little Richard to Jesus reveal to the poet, as a character in his own story, that art, whether a song or poem or scripture, is all we here on earth know of heaven and all we need to know.
