Summary

In the late nineteenth century, pioneering archaeologist Flinders Petrie (1853–1942) began excavations in the ruined city of Tanis, once the political centre of Lower Egypt. Reissued here together, these two illustrated excavation reports, published 1885–8, include material by Francis Llewellyn Griffith (1862–1934) and Alexander Stuart Murray (1841–1904).
