About the author

Dr. Elisa Hoven holds a PhD in international criminal law from the Free University of Berlin (Germany) and is a legal assistant to Professor Claus Kreß at the Institute for Peace and Security Law at the Universtiy of Cologne. She studied law at the Free University of Berlin, Radboud Universitaet Nijmegen (Netherlands) and the University of Cambridge (UK). She worked for the Civil Parties at the ECCC and for Judge Kaul at the ICC. She was a Visiting Scholar at the War Crimes Studies Center at Berkeley and conducted research at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, Harvard University.
