About the author

Philip Payton is Professor of Cornish & Australian Studies in the University of Exeter and Director of the Institute of Cornish Studies at the University's Cornwall campus. He has published extensively on the Cornish and the Cornish Diaspora. Dr Helen Doe is an Honorary Fellow of the Centre for Maritime Studies in the University of Exeter and has published articles and books on both Cornish and wider English maritime history. Dr Alston Kennerley is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Plymouth where he taught Navigation and Maritime History, and also an Honorary Fellow of the University of Exeter.
