Informationen zum Autor Abraham Livni was born in Marseille in 1925. During World War II he resided in Chambon-Sur-Lignon, a French village whose residents hid and saved more than five thousand Jews. He was profoundly devastated by the atrocity of the Holocaust; the failure of Western culture. His personal and spiritual path made him leave his country of birth and led him to Morocco, where he taught philosophy in French high schools. His contact with a living Jewish community and its key figures, aroused an endless passion for the study of sacred Jewish texts and this led him to find his fulfillment in authentic Judaism. Abraham married Nelly Ben Chaim the grand-daughter of Rav Yitzchak Rouche Z"L, and they had one son, Michael. Pushed by their destiny, they ascended to Israel in 1963. Abraham studied in yeshiva Merkaz HaRav Kook and he fully immersed himself in the study of the Torah and of its thinkers. He received teaching directly from HaRav Zvi Yehuda Kook Z"L and started to delve into the "Lights" book (OROT) of Rav A.Y HaCohen Kook, who he would call the guide of the time of the Return, and from which he would pull essential sustenance. At the same time, he presented his doctoral thesis on Paul Valery at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Later, he would teach at Bar-Ilan university. This is how his universal conception that is expressed in his book, matured and completely unfurled. The fruit of twenty-eight years of study, reflection and development. A Livni left us in 1985, one year after his book was published, the legacy of his thought. Klappentext The Holocaust, 1944; creation of the State of Israel, 1948... a paradoxical and overwhelming connection!
