Major advances in molecular biology, alternative RNA splicing, protein processing, identification of gene control elements, transgenic animals and bioinformatics open up multiple research avenues and allow for better understanding of neuropeptide production and function. With a selected description of techniques in neuropeptide research, Neuropeptide Methods covers aspects of design, synthesis and biological evaluation of peptides and peptide analogues. Written by leaders in the field, this book explains primary cell cultures and cell lines, as well as techniques in neuropeptide processing, trafficking and secretion. In vivo techniques quantifying blood-brain barrier permeability to small proteins in mice and developmental milestones of behavior in newborn mice are described. Neuropeptide Methods provides the reader with broad perspectives and breadth of knowledge on current topics related to neuropeptide research.
