Mr. Claxton took a deep breath. "Yes, Jamie?" Jamie was so excited, he jumped to his feet. He kept jumping. "I think we should get-" "A shark?" Kamal asked. Jamie's eyes widened. "How did you know?" "Because that's all you ever talk about. Sharks this. Sharks that," said Kamal. "Don't you think about anything else?" Jamie shrugged. "I don't want our class to get just any shark," he said. "I think we should get a great white shark." Jamie has an accident while feeding the new classroom pet, and everyone is upset. Jamie needs to find a way to make things right. So he comes up with an idea that will please both his teacher and classmates and give him something other than sharks to be excited about.

About the author










Jeff Szpirglas is the author of several works for young people, including the horror collections Tales from Beyond the Brain and Tales from the Fringes of Fear. He is also the co-author, with Danielle Saint-Onge, of a number of Orca Echoes titles, including Shark Bait!, X Marks the Spot and Messy Miranda. Jeff has worked at CTV and was an editor at Chirp, Chickadee and Owl magazines. In his spare time, he teaches grade school. Jeff lives with his family in Kitchener, Ontario.
