The prolific architectural legacy of Delhi is remarkable not only for its antiquity but also its diversity. While the period of antiquity encompass various types of Hindu, Islamic and Colonial architecture, it is modern architecture that laid the foundation of post-independent development of the city. Today, the city has been engulfed by an explosion of the built environment. One has to search for the forgotten or obscure jewels of architecture. Architectural Guide Delhi introduces over 200 of these known or obscure examples of Delhi's architecture particularly those built after india's independence in 1947. All projects presented with over 450 photographs, texts and drawings have been contributed by various architectural practitioners in Delhi. Information about each entry is enhanced by geo-data in the form of QR codes.Delhi gehört zu den am schnellsten wachsenden Megacities der Welt: Nach Erlangung der Unabhängigkeit Indiens im Jahr 1947 haben Ströme von Zuwanderern und die unablässig steigende Bevölkerungszahl zu einem nahezu explosionsartigen städtischen Wachstum geführt. Neben herausragenden Bauwerken der hinduistischen, islamischen und kolonialen Epochen ist es vor allem die Architektur der Moderne, die die städtebauliche Entwicklung von Delhi entscheidend geprägt hat. Der vorliegende Architekturführer, zusammengestellt von vor Ort lebenden und arbeitenden Fachautoren und Architekten, präsentiert in Text und Bild mehr als 200 Bauten sowohl einheimischer als auch internationaler Baukünstler, die vorwiegend nach 1947 errichtet wurden. Anupam Bansal is a Delhi based architect. He founded ABRD Architects with Rajesh Dongre in 1996. ABRD Architects have designed several prestigious projects all over India. He has taught design, history and theory of Architecture at School of Planning & Architecture, TVB School of Habitat Studies at Delhi and Sushant School of Art and Architecture in Gurgaon, Haryana.
Malini Kochupillai is an architect and photographer based in Delhi. She has taught design at Sushant School of Art & Architecture, Gurgaon and University School of Architecture and Planning, Delhi. She is currently involved in various art and urbanism related projects in Delhi.
