In this variation of "Little Red Riding Hood" set in the Southwest, Little Red makes a hot pepper pie for her sick grandmother, but she must evade Senor Lobo when she attempts to deliver it.

About the author

Author Eric A. Kimmel is well known for the tales he has retold from around the world. Some of his best-known titles are Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins (a Caldecott Honor book), The Three Little Tamales, Cactus Soup, and The Golem's Latkes, which won the National Jewish Book Award in the picture-book category. A former professor of children's literature, he lives in Portland, Oregon. Besides writing and telling stories, he enjoys horseback riding, bicycling, and playing the banjo.
