Wer von Freundschaft und Liebe spricht, muss sich auch von Feindschaft einen Begriff machen. Das gilt bereits, wenn von 'Feindesliebe' die Rede ist oder davon, dass 'Gott uns versöhnt hat, als wir noch Feinde waren' - und natürlich erst recht, wenn die Bibel von Feinden ganz unversöhnlich spricht. Im Spannungsfeld von Theologie und Phänomenologie, von Philosophie und Politik tritt die Figur des Feindes in vielen Debatten immer wieder auf. Gefragt wird, wie der Andere vom Konkurrenten zum Feind wird, welche Rolle Feindbilder im Aufbau eigener Identität spielen und welche Funktion die Imagination dabei spielt.
Carl Schmitts Behauptung, die spezifische Unterscheidung der politischen Sphäre sei die zwischen Freund und Feind, Derridas Analyse der Rede von den Schurkenstaaten oder Nietzsches Lob der Feindschaft fordern dazu heraus, nach dem anthropologischen Sinn der Feind-Seligkeit zu fragen.

[Enmity
Theological and philosophica perspectives]
Whoever talks about friendship and love must also have a notion of enmity. This is true already when there is talk of "love of the enemy" or "while we were enemies we were reconciled to God" and even more so when the Bible speaks of irreconcilable enmity. In the discussions between theology and phenomenology, philosophy and politics the figure of the enemy is a recurrent theme. How does it happen that the other changes from rival to enemy? What place has the concept of the enemy in building up a separate identity and what is the role of imagination in that process?
The concept of Carl Schmitt of the specific distinction in the political sphere between friend and enemy, the analysis of Derrida of the term "rogue states", and the praise of enmity by Nietzsche are challenges for analyzing the meaning of hostility in an anthropological perspective.
