Dieter K. Müller ist seit 1985 in unterschiedlichen Funktionen für die ARD-Werbung SALES&SERVICES GmbH tätig, seit 1993 Direktor Forschung und Service. Zahlreiche Funktionen in nationalen und internationalen Forschungsorganisationen, u. a. Mitglied im Vorstand der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Media Analyse (AG.MA) sowie Lehrbeauftragter an der Universität Salzburg.
