Klappentext String players face a bewildering array of terms related to their instruments. As string playing is a living art form, passed directly from a master of the instrument to the student, the words used to convey complex concepts, such as bow technique or fingering systems, have developed into an extensive vocabulary that can be complicated, sometimes vague, and even contradictory. In All Things Strings: An Illustrated Dictionary, violinist and author Jo Nardolillo offers a comprehensive resource for terminology related to the modern string family of instruments from violin and viola to cello and double bass. Reaching across languages and genres, this reference work features over 150 musical examples and illustrations and includes an extensive bibliography as well as a detailed chart of bowstrokes. Zusammenfassung A Dictionary for the Modern String Player serves as the only resource to offer a comprehensive reference of the terminology used by the modern string family of instruments. All of the terms used by violin! viola! cello! and double bass! inclusive of all genres and playing styles! are defined! explained! and illustrated in a single text.
