Die Identität Europas ist noch immer ein hochgradig umstrittenes Thema. Fast alles, was dieses Thema betrifft, steht zur Diskussion. Sowohl die Rolle, die das Konzept für das politische Gemeinwesen Europa spielen kann als auch seine Ursprünge, Bedingungen und Inhalte.
