Summary

The writer William Knighton (c.1824–1900) spent much of his career in South Asia. Published in 1855, this is an account of life in the court of the Indian King Nussir-u-deen (c.1803–37). It is a tale of extravagance, corruption and cruelty, written from the viewpoint of an anonymous servant.
