K. Schwitters, peintre allemand, fut proche du mouvement dada, avant de créer en 1919 son propre mouvement, Merz. Il a travaillé autour du collage jusqu'à aboutir à une oeuvre monumentale en 1923. R. Johnson, artiste américain, fut le pionnier de l'art postal. Des oeuvres de ces deux artistes, issues de collections privées, sont réunies à l'occasion de cette exposition.
