Body as Medium of Meaning

English · Paperback / Softback

Description

Bodies move, and they express. There is a body language, and there is a language employed to refer to body, its parts and the states of its being in all cultures. Consciously and unconsciously people judge each other according to body and clothing behavior. What one thinks one expresses, is not necessarily how one is seen and judged. The variety of observations made of body is diverse. Bodily behavior faces change at frontiers of culture areas or as a result of migration. Means of communication have affected bodily behavior in appearance and expression. Body is also a source of inspiration to build space and to interpret the cosmos. This built and interpreted space in turn influences the body's reflection upon itself. Body is also a pedagogical instrument for teaching deepest metaphysical beliefs of a culture.
