Volume 2 covers the years 1844-8, and shows how Bunbury's marriage brought him into close contact with the geologist Charles Lyell, whom he greatly admired, and who became his brother-in-law. His diaries mention attending lectures by Sedgwick and Owen, and socialising with Babbage and Henslow among others.
