Summary

Pamphlet 12 presents a landscape design workshop undertaken by architecture students under the supervision of the Institute for Landscape Architecture on the site of the Lagoon of Santa Gilla in Cagliari, Sardinia. Shown in great detail is the design methodology applied by the students, from preparatory analysis of the site and its existing conditions to the formulation of a design hypothesis based on long-term sustainability, diversity, and the site’s urban, social and recreational potential. The final project proposal, phased over a period of 25 years, focuses on the rehabilitation of the beachfront and industrial port, as well as the treatment of the river water upstream to bring new potential to the Lagoon.
