This 1884 account of a journey into the 'King Country' in New Zealand by 'gentleman explorer' J. H. Kerry-Nicholls (d. 1888) includes not only a history of Maori–European relations, but a geographical survey of the beautiful landscapes he encountered and his meeting with Maori King Tawhiao.
