This anthology brings together the best of the wordless comic strips published by the famous English cartoonist Henry Mayo Bateman (1887-1970) between 1916 and 1933.

Bateman was a satirist of modern urban life, bureaucratic red tape and army life, a humanist whose ferocity was always tempered with affection. Human vanity and social conventions inspired these joyous vignettes, recounted with a peerless sense of timing, characterization and gesture.
