Dessinateur, peintre, collectionneur, R. Humbert quitte très tôt sa Lorraine natale pour Paris et entre aux Arts décoratifs puis aux Beaux-Arts. En 1958, il obtient le premier Grand Prix de Rome. S'installant dans l'Yonne en 1969, il séjourne sur les côtes de Porspoder où la nature devient son sujet de prédilection. Jusqu'en 1990, il pratique son art dans l'anonymat.
