Informationen zum Autor Lewis Carroll, born Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-98), grew up in Cheshire in the village of Daresbury, the son of a parish priest. He was a brilliant mathematician, a skilled photographer and a meticulous letter and diary writer. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, inspired by Alice Liddell, the daughter of the Dean of Christ Church in Oxford, was published in 1865, followed by Through the Looking-Glass in 1871. He wrote numerous stories and poems for children including the nonsense poem The Hunting of the Snark and fairy stories Sylvie and Bruno. Klappentext The Penguin Collection offers the perfect introduction to the world of Penguin Books. Ever since the first Penguin paperbacks were published in 1935 by Allen Lane, who claimed 'good design costs no more than bad', their distinctive cover look has become a style icon. Now the original design is loved by a whole new generation, and Penguin is still committed to making the best books in every genre available to readers all over the world. On an ordinary summer's afternoon, Alice tumbles down a hole and an extraordinary adventure begins. In a strange world with even stranger characters, she meets a grinning cat and a rabbit with a pocket-watch, joins a mad tea-party and plays croquet with the Queen. Lost in this fantasy land, Alice finds herself growing more and more curious by the minute . . Zusammenfassung One of the most exciting and original books in world literature, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is a tale of childhood whimsy that can enthrall anyone with a curiosity to follow Alice down the rabbit-hole. This limited edition is distinguished by Iassen Ghiuselev's extraordinary illustrations, which the artist has innovatively worked into one painting that tells the entire adventure. The resulting dreamscape takes viewers into perspective distortions that defy logic and invite them to journey through time and space like Alice herself. A tour de force of innovative book illustration and design -- and embellished with exquisite calligraphy -- this edition of a classic is an essential addition to every "Alice in Wonderland" collection....
