La farce de maître Pathelin - Lecture accompagnée par Nicolas Lenoir

Résumons : l'avocat Pathelin se fait livrer des
tissus par Guillaume et prétend, à l'heure de
les payer, ne plus pouvoir s'exprimer qu'en
divers dialectes. Le marchand le croit possédé
par le diable. Fin de la première supercherie.
Le berger Thibaut a tué les brebis de Guillaume,
prétextant qu'elles étaient malades et qu'il
fallait éviter l'épidémie. En réalité, il les a mangées.
Deuxième supercherie. Qui Thibaut
choisit-il comme défenseur ? Pathelin... Tout
ce petit monde se retrouve au tribunal. Que
le plus malin l'emporte !
Pour éclairer la lecture de Pathelin, l'accompagnement
pédagogique présente la situation historique et sociale
de la fin du Moyen Âge. Un Arrêt sur lecture est consacré
au théâtre médiéval : son audience, son influence,
ses conditions de représentation. On s'interroge également
sur la force du langage et sur la puissance comique
de cette oeuvre, qui annonce Molière.
