La naissance de la tragédie

En 1876, Nietzsche publie son premier livre intitulé La Naissance de la tragédie, passé presque complètement inaperçu si on laisse de côté l'irritation des universitaires.
Disciple de Schopenhauer, qui lui révèle le tragique de la vie, il rompt avec une conception philosophique inaugurée par Socrate consistant à dissimuler cette vérité avec plus ou moins de bonheur.
Dans ce premier livre plein d'enthousiasme, Nietzsche annonce la venue d'une nouvelle période de l'art tragique dont il avait d'abord pensé que Wagner serait l'initiateur.
