Hippolyte Taine : La Fontaine et ses fables

En 1853, Hippolyte Taine soutient une thèse remarquée sur La Fontaine. Il en publie, en 1861, une version aménagée pour le grand public, dont C. Reffait présente les principaux traits. Pour Taine, La Fontaine est l'homme d'un lieu et d'une époque. Son oeuvre apparaît ainsi comme l'expression même du génie français.
