Knock est un des triomphes du théâtre français depuis 1923 et, après Le Malade imaginaire, la pièce la plus drôle et la plus féroce qui ait été écrite sur les malades et les médecins, les maniaques et les charlatans.
Le commentaire apporte la clé de bien des mystères. Ce sommet du répertoire comique est replacé par cette édition dans l'évolution de l'œuvre si considérable de Jules Romains.
