In 1970, Edward Blishen won the Carnegie Medal (jointly with Leon Garfield) for The God Beneath the Sea. He also compiled the acclaimed anthology, Children's Classics to Read Aloud, published by Kingfisher. Together, Edward and Nancy Blishen compiled several treasuries for Kingfisher, including The Kingfisher Treasury of Stories for Children and the age-ranged Treasury of Stories for... series.
